It was good to see members at the recent Cheltenham International Film Festival. It was an ambitious event, with a total of 31 feature films of various lengths, genres, vintages and provenances being shown around the town. The venues used included Cineworld, the Parabola Arts Centre, the Frog & Fiddle and the Wilson Art Gallery. There were visits from Mike Leigh, Steven Berkoff, Josie Rourke, Carl Hunter and several Polish directors, as well as some film industry experts who gave an insight into various crafts and trades.
CFS took the view that we should support the event. Those of us who were involved in it learned a lot. We are currently going through a process of self-examination to see what we can do better next time. Founder Leslie Sheldon, who is a CFS member, has already committed himself to a second season.
If anyone attended any of the sessions, or has any comments or suggestions about the festival, we would be grateful to hear from you. You can email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
